After learning to sail on his father’s yacht on Lake Macquarie, Tom began travelling down to Sydney to sail in the more competitive Ocean Racing Yachts. Tom’s big break in sailing came at age 22 when he was offered a position on Syd Fisher’s Sydney 95, a competitor in the America’s Cup. Since then Tom has continued to sail professionally and is well renowned in the off shore yachting circle. Tom obviously has the sailing skills to compete in this race. He also has a lot of skills in boat maintenance that will enable to fix many of the problems he may face in his adventure.
