It is just a classic leg, The States to Europe. Especially for us Boston to Galway for us this time. It is a short leg at only 2, 500 miles but we get a bit of everything! We left Boston with a beautiful day and then very quickly we were into the fog and sailing round Cape Cod and out onto the Grand Banks. We saw a lot of sea life and we’ve now sailed around the ice box and almost out into tropical water, we saw a couple of dolphins and whales on the last watch. We are going to have a really good run from here on in, we have the spinnaker up now and we are expecting the wind to build over the next 24 – 48 hours. We will have a really fast run for the last three days into Galway, it is going to be very fast certainly something that we’re looking forward to, it certainly suits us. We wanted to stay in touch as we came around the ice box, which we have managed to do, now we can stretch our legs and show them what the Green Dragon does best, which is sail well and sail fast downwind.
Hopefully we can keep the sails up there and the keel down there for the next 3 days, we should be coming into Galway looking good. Coming back to Ireland is a huge part of what this project is all about, I know all the lads onboard will remember Galway from when we were training pre start about 9 months ago. It is going to be a changed town by the time we get there in three days time. I thin everyone onboard has someone coming to visit, whether they are coming from England, or New Zealand, Australia or Kerry! There will be a lot of people in Galway over the next couple of weeks. Galway here we come!
