What was Leg 2 like for you?
Damian Foxall: We found the last few hours very hard. I think at that stage you realise that the game is up and down and we arrived on a down. That’s not great for us but as a team we sailed a good leg, we managed to get third at the gate without a boom and we finished the leg in contention of the middle of the fleet. Over the last 24 hours we ended up finishing behind the boat we’ve been racing with the last two weeks. But it’s a long race and we are all pretty happy to be here in India.
Q: Have you ever been in a part of a race like that with a leg of 4,500 miles to be actually seeing other boats around you?
Damian Foxall: Certainly not, at least to see the three boats just ahead of us, that’s very very close, for sure. When it is that close you look back and think “those few hundred metres worked. It’s pretty easy to find a couple of hundred meters”. So, we were all looking back and thinking “could we have done that better, could I have done this better”. But generally speaking, we are very happy with what we have achieved and it is a long race.
